Brian’s Blog
Hello, everyone! It’s been awhile since my last update, but to be honest, I can’t really bring myself to sit still. Ever. I don’t have much patience for letting Mommy or Daddy do any work on the computer when I’m around! Whenever they even approach a computer, I complain. Speaking of computers, Mommy and Daddy’s old Mac finally died a few weeks ago, so they had to get a new computer. It was an unexpected expense, and it took them awhile to get things up and running again, but here we are.
On Valentine’s Day, I went to my friend Ayden’s birthday party. He turned 2 years old. I was able to see my friend Nico there. He remembers me, and says “Hi Brian!” when he sees me! I think Nico is pretty awesome. I was a little shy when I got to the party, but once I warmed up, I had a great time running around and playing with all the new toys. I ate pizza and drank apple juice, and then I had a cupcake! It had sprinkles and bright green icing, and I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. I don’t usually have cake and things like that, but my folks said it was OK since it was a special occasion. Afterward, I played with the trains on the train table. I was so into that, my folks think I might need a train table one day! That afternoon, Nana Rosemary watched me so Mommy and Daddy could go out for a little while.
Last weekend, we had house guests. Daddy’s friends Brian and Heather came to stay with us for the weekend. We had a good time together, and I wasn’t too shy. Nana Rosemary came to play with me while my folks and their friends went to watch the hockey game. I haven’t been to a game this year, but since I’m not into crowds or loud noises, it’s probably for the best.
My folks have been pretty busy lately. Daddy’s work has really increased since the holidays, and he has to work late every night and every weekend. He’s having a pretty hard time of it, but he still makes time for me. I love spending time with Daddy! For awhile there, Daddy was really my favorite person, and I think it might have hurt Mommy’s feelings a little! But now, I’ve come around to liking Mommy again, and she seems happier now that I’m not ignoring her. Mommy has been pretty busy, too, taking her Japanese classes and teaching some as well. She’s also busy with volunteer work, now that she’s a part of guest relations staff for Animazement. Plus, she’s taking some online web development classes to keep her skills up-to-date, and she’s going to the gym. So my folks are really busy!
I’ve learned to sit in a chair by myself! I first figured this out in Grandpa Stan’s little red rocking chair. I climb up, and then turn around and sit down like the big boy that I am. I love to practice getting in and out of my chair so much! Last Thursday Mommy took me out shopping, and we bought the Zanzibar chair to match my room. We moved the red rocking chair downstairs because it matches the red things in the living room. I’m pretty excited because now I have a chair of my own on every floor! I like to rock in my chairs and read my books. Next, I think I need a table and chairs set of my own. I did really well sitting at the table at Ayden’s party. I love to draw and color, and I think it would be easier if I had a Brian-sized table to sit at! I’ve made lots of crayon drawings for my folks. They enjoy watching me progress from making sweeps to big loopy circles to dots and lines. Mommy and Daddy sometimes draw shapes for me, and I try to copy them!
We had a few days of nice weather, but lately it’s been really cold again! We might get some more snow this weekend. I don’t like it when it’s too cold to go outside. I get stir-crazy and bored when we have to stay indoors. I really like to take walks outside with Mommy, so we are waiting for spring! I hope spring comes soon! When we take walks outside, I’m always interested in the cars and trucks. Even when I’m inside, I can identify the sounds of trucks as they go by. I always run to the window to see the mailman, the garbage truck, and especially the big brown UPS truck.

Waiting for Spring
